Challenge

“I was excited to get out of school and see what it would be like as a Games Designer, you can have an idea but the reality can be different so I wanted to take the opportunity to see how this would suit me. I was slightly worried that my coding experience wasn't the same as the other students and I was worried everyone would be forced to be doing the coding and that I'd struggle.”

Outcome

”I’ve been doing more of the marketing, pitching, social media and research than I expected and I’m very happy that the opportunity has been flexible enough to accommodate this. I’m surprised that I’ve been as good as I think I am at these tasks - taking on that responsibility has been very beneficial to me, it has shown that I can understand and have a route forward for developing my coding skills. I’m surprised I was able to accurately draw as I was tasked with art and I’ve been able to surprise myself. I now consider that a path of skills I could improve upon in future.”

Impact

“This has helped me see where my strengths and weaknesses are and it has helped me see how I can apply what I have practiced in terms of marketing and such in his personal YouTube and for other companies in the future. The placement has been extremely useful, as I have gained some level of work experience and a reference which gives me an advantage in the jobs market vs non-placement students.”
